Calling All Gardeners!
Each April commences National Garden Month, during which everyone is encouraged to start gardening. Home gardening has many benefits that are not only good for you, but also good for the environment.  There are several things you can do to partake in this event, and also make it as green and fun as possible!

The more the merrier, I always say. Garden with a friend or neighbor. This will make your earthy experience more fun, and you'll be able to share it with others.

Start your own neighborhood garden club.  It is a great way to share resources and information with fellow gardeners who live close to you.  By joining forces with others, you can buy products in bulk quantities, such as compost or mulch (or make your own!).

Experiment in your own garden and try new and different veggies, herbs and flowers. Certain flowers are great for keep garden pests away without the use of chemicals. Learn more here.

To get started, clean out your shed or garage and take an inventory of all of your gardening "stuff" that you haven't used for a while.  This includes anything from: pots, gloves, shovel, seeds, potting soil, plant markers, etc.  After keeping the things that you'll need for your new garden, donate anything you don't want to a community or school garden program.

The Earth is waiting, so dig in!
