If you have been diligent in your green practices (bagging your lunches, recycling, car pooling, installing solar power reflectors on your roof, using less water and electricity, etc.), then we have good news for you. World Environment Day (WED) takes place on June 5, where people all over the globe come together to ensure a cleaner and safer Earth for many generations to come. This is a day that celebrates individual actions that collectively grow into one positive force to preserve and protect the environment.
According to the United Nations Environment Programme, “WED celebration began in 1972 and has grown to become the one of the main vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action. Through WED, the UN Environment Programme is able to personalize environmental issues and enable everyone to realize not only their responsibility, but also their power to become agents for change in support of sustainable and equitable development.”
Don’t be late to celebrate World Environment Day! And let Pink Goes Green know how you did it by telling us your story at PGG@dzshq.com.
